The strategic goal of the Digital Office will be to work closely with community groups and businesses across the country to understand the digital needs, support digital projects, act as an advocate for digital initiatives.
Welcome to The Digital Office
Our goal is to increase access to digital technology, inspire communities and organisations to go online and maximise digital participation across New Zealand for economic and social benefits.
Who we are:
Our mission is to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to use, understand and benefit from digital services.
We are a not for profit organisation that deliver digital projects and initiatives to provide access to the Internet, lead educational programmes, explain the benefits of using the Internet and provide assistance to help businesses and communities make informed decisions on what digital services are available and the benefits they will bring.
We work with schools, communities, businesses and local government. Our programmes are funded through grants, sponsorship and donations.
We are governed by a charitable trust, The Digital Community Trust and provide services throughout New Zealand.
What we do:
In the 19th century distance was reduced by railways and shipping. In the 20th century motorways and air travel reduced it further.
In the 21st century distance in increasing being conquered by digital communication technology.
The challenge today is to understand and seize the opportunity.
