What Excites Us

We are excited by how technology can improve the way in which we live, work and play.

Although our primary focus is on our key projects we will occasionally get involved with other initiatives to ensure that Otago's communities get the best possible outcomes.

UFB in Otago

On behalf of Dunedin we submitted a proposal to the government to prioritise their Year 1 to 3  UFB fibre installation plan to the locations that need it the most; such as those areas with poor levels of connectivity, like South Dunedin. Our proposal helped shape the implementation plan and we were pleased to see that large parts of South Dunedin have been prioritised. This will open new opportunities to those schools and communities within that area. 

Chorus is now planning the year 4/5 (Aug 2014 to Jul 2016) rollout of Ultra-Fast Broadband, we are currently working with Chorus to prioritise the installation of UFB to the areas that need it most.  To help, we need Dunedin residents to complete a two minute survey.

RBI in Otago

RBI stands for Rural Broadband Initiative.  This Government initiative involves extending UFB further into rural communities and improving the number of rural homes and businesses with access to broadband from 20% to 86%.
